Endless Summer Days

This gentle 2-part ballad reflects on memories of childhood beach holidays at Hawks Nest on the east coast of Australia, taking us back to a time when summer stretched like a ribbon of gold. With plenty of unison singing and simple harmonies, choirs will learn this in a flash. The timelessness of the lyrics will transport audiences back to their own childhood summers.
Lyrics
I remember a time when summer
Stretched like a ribbon of gold
With lazy days and games to play
Everything else on hold
A long drive up the highway
Singing all the songs that we knew
Hoping to be the one to see
That very first moment of blue
Though the tides will come and go
And the circling hawk will fly away
The feeling stays
Of those endless summer days
Do you remember running barefoot
Racing down the sandy track?
There was salt in the air and wind in our hair
The sun shining on our backs
A swim in the crystal waters
Then we'd write our names in the sand
There were shells to find and fishing lines
A photo hand in hand
Wade out to the island
Climb the highest dune
And by the campfire our faces glow
Telling secrets under the moon
Yesterday I went there
On a cloudless afternoon
A freckled girl was by my side
Running down a dune
Driftwood on the shoreline
Sea shells in our hands
A hawk in flight, a stick to write
A new name in the sand
Though the tides will come and go
And the circling hawk will fly away
The feeling stays
Of those endless summer days
